Cena was coming off a weird 2014. His feud with Bray Wyatt was negatively received after Cena buried Wyatt across three different PPVs. He won the WWE World Championship at Money in the Bank after Daniel Bryan was forced to vacate it due to injury.

Cena went on to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, and ended getting victimized, conquered and humiliated by the Beast Incarnate. With Brock holding the top prize in the game, Cena found his next rival in the form of Seth Rollins, who cost Cena his chance at redemption against Lesnar.

At the time, Seth Rollins was the face of the Authority and Mr. Money in the Bank. Having betrayed his Shield brothers and aligning with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, Rollins was preparing for the push of a lifetime. This guaranteed that he would cross paths with the former face of the WWE.

5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series elimination match is set up

The Authority terrorized Raw and SmackDown, and John Cena stood in their path to complete autocracy over the company. To prevent the Authority from turning Raw into their own show, Cena challenged the Authority to a traditional five on five Survivor Series elimination match.

Cena recruited Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, Big Show and Ryback, all of whom were terrorized by the Authority. Seth Rollins recruited Rusev, Luke Harper, Mark Henry and Kane. The stipulation for the match: If the Authority loses, they would be out of power. If Cena’s team lost, everyone of Cena’s team except for him would be fired.

The bell rang, and two massive men started the match. However, Big Show was able to catch the charging Mark Henry with a WMD for the first elimination. Triple H and Stephanie had not even stepped off the apron, and looked on in shock.

Ryback was the next to be eliminated, courtesy of a Curb Stomp from Rollins. Rusev got himself eliminated by count-out, after attempting a running splash on Dolph Ziggler through the announcer’s table. Erick Rowan was nearly decapitated by the would be Mr. Brodie Lee for the fourth elimination of the night.

Big Show betrays John Cena and turns heel

The most shocking moment of the match came when Cena and Big Show found themselves cornered by Luke Harper, Seth Rollins and Kane. The World’s Largest Athlete proceeded to knock out John Cena, declaring his allegiance to the Authority. Rollins then pinned Cena as Big Show got himself eliminated by walking out.

Ziggler was the only member left in Team Cena; however, he managed to put away Kane and Luke Harper before going one on one with Rollins. Ziggler connected with the Zig Zag, but Triple H interfered and took out the official. Out came Scott Armstrong, the corrupt referee, to count the final pinfall after Hunter hit Ziggler with the Pedigree.

As Armstrong counted, the crow’s caw was heard on the speakers and out walked WWE’s most feared enemy. Sting was WCW’s star player and seeing him in a WWE arena blew the roof off the Scottrade Center.

Sting took out Triple H with the Scorpion Death Drop, and pulled Ziggler over the unconscious Rollins, as the main referee counted the final pinfall, giving John Cena, Dolph Ziggler and the entire WWE Universe the victory.
