The Canadian duo of Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov served brilliantly against Djokovic and Filip Krajinovic. Even though Serbia won the first set, the second set was evenly poised. When Shapovalov was serving against Djokovic, Team Serbia had two breakpoints, but the Canadian served some untouchable balls to save the game. This frustrated Djokovic, and he was close to smacking his racquet on the court.

Team Serbia got another chance to break in the second set, but again some solid serving from Raonic frustrated Djokovic. With the serves proving hard to return, Djokovic lost the game and smacked the ball into the top tier of Rod Laver Arena. Subsequently, Team Serbia was charged with ball abuse.

After the singles ties, Team Serbia and Team Canada were tied at 1-1. So it was down to the doubles tie to seal the fixture. And here obviously Djokovic was good, but his doubles partner Filip Krajinovic was brilliant as well. Nole’s partner played a perfect supporting role to the World No.1 as they beat Canada 7-5, 7-6.

Novak Djokovic remains unbeaten in ATP Cup

Djokovic’s match against Shapovalov was a repeat of last year’s quarterfinal match at ATP Cup 2020. There Shapovalov had stretched Djokovic to the third set, but the Serbian had won that tie. This year, Djokovic fended off Shapovalov in straight sets to continue his win streak at ATP Cup.
