Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas does not appear to be having such a great weekend so far. The Mercedes number 2 is already starting from the back of the grid, due to an engine change. Now, it appears that he has made it worse for himself in free practice 2 in Abu Dhabi.

During the session, the Finn brought out the yellow flags when he attempted a dive down the inside of Romain Grosjean. The Mercedes driver came from very far back, and the Frenchman didn’t see him as he turned into the corner.

Admittedly, Grosjean was furious, as he wasn’t completely at fault this time around. However, it was worth noting that when Lewis Hamilton was notified, he automatically assumed that Grosjean was guilty.

The Haas F1 driver has built himself a reputation as a highly aggressive driver and likely to take out another driver. So, Hamilton simply quipped, “Could have guessed,”, when told about the incident involving Grosjean and Valtteri Bottas.

Now, both Bottas and Grosjean have summoned to the stewards office to explain themselves. Bottas is already starting from the back of the grid due to a power unit penalty, so there are chances that he could have a further penalty added.

This was a far cry from the performance that he put in during FP1 at the Yas Marina circuit, where he topped the session.

Grosjean’s reaction was simply, “What the **** was that?”, but Bottas had a different take. He said on the radio, “He turned into me, didn’t leave any space”.
