The 20-time Grand Slam winner, Roger Federer, has won almost everything that’s up for grabs in the game. There are many great players who have achieved success, but the manner in which the Swiss commands the court seems second to none.
The success he’s enjoyed on the court has truly been a part of his fans’ journey as well. The great Roger Federer already entered the twilight of his career; nonetheless, the hunger in him to compete for the highest honors still remains fresh.
However, much to his disappointment and that of his millions of fans, Federer has decided to pull out of the Australian Open 2021.

Roger Federer ran out of time to get his fitness levels up
The thought of expecting this news did occur when Federer revealed that he yet doesn’t feel 100% last week. Tournament Director, Craig Tiley confirmed the news and stated, “In the end, Roger ran out of time to get ready for the rigors of a Grand Slam and he’s very disappointed he won’t be coming to Melbourne in 2021.”
Over the years, Federer has enjoyed tremendous success at the venue. The first time he ever won at the Open was as a 22-year-old young man and he won his last Australian Open as a 36-year-old.

When he made his return to the tour, under similar circumstances as he currently faces, the Swiss had made one of the greatest comebacks in sports. He won 2 majors that season.

Federer has had a special connection to tennis and this event particularly, Tiley added, “The Australian Open has always held a special place in his heart.
“Remember, it was Roger who first called the Australian Open the ‘happy slam’. We wish him all the best as he prepares for his comeback later in the year and looks forward to seeing him in Melbourne in 2022.”
Roger was last seen on a tennis court in a competitive capacity in Melbourne early this year. He subsequently was forced to undergo knee surgery.

Since then, he has been rehabilitating to get in order for the busy schedule of 2021. Now that he’s confirmed his absence for the first major of the season, we look forward to welcoming him as soon as possible.
