At the Wimbledon Championships, the winner in the gentlemen’s draw is given a trophy. This trophy has one of the most unique designs. One of the most notable features of the trophy is that it has a pineapple adorning at the top. The actual reason is not known but when this event began in the latter half of the 19th century, pineapples were considered scarce and absolute food.

The trophy is made of silver and it stands at 18 inches (46cm) high. ‘The All England Lawn Tennis Club Single Handed Championship of the World’ is carved on it. The names of all winners, right from the first edition in 1877, are inscribed on the trophy.
However, due to lack of space, the champions since 2009 are observed on a black base along with a silver ornamented band that now comes along with the cup. Right from the 1949 edition, all champions have received a replica of the trophy to possess.
