Grigor Dimitrov won his first-round match at the Wimbledon Championships against Fernando Verdasco, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, as he made a stunning comeback. However, he will be missing his potential mixed doubles partner, Serena Williams. Reportedly, the Bulgarian was planning on playing mixed doubles with the American this year.
For the uninitiated, Serena Williams injured herself during her first-round match at the Wimbledon Championships. The 23-time Grand Slam winner called it curtains during the first set against Aliaksandra Sasnovich after slipping on the court.
The grass has not helped the players at Wimbledon this year, as she bid adieu to the court with tears in her eyes.

Grigor Dimitrov shares his experience when he got to know about Williams’ injury
Grigor Dimitrov was shocked on learning about Serena Williams’ injury. Williams was a favorite to win the slam this year, and this injury has shaken her world. Dimitrov, who has had a 2021 laden with injuries, will surely sympathize with Williams.
“I was doing treatment at that time, and all of a sudden I get one of those pop ups on my phone. I was like, ‘what happened?’, and I clearly had no idea, none of us expected it, nor did she. I mean, i honestly thought that, that was it. She would have done this, this year, I mean the way we were practicing the other day, was so amazing. We always have one hit, or two hits before a tournament when we are in the same spot,” said Dimitrov in an interview with Wimbledon.
