Mouratoglou thinks Serena Williams is the GOAT in women’s tennis, but Twitter disagrees

A few hours back, Mouratoglou took to his Twitter account to talk about his earlier tweet. He had previously tweeted about this current age of sports being the greatest as there are many GOATs. In his words, this is indeed the “decade of the GOATs”. However, soon after the tweet, tennis fans took a dig at him for talking about this decade in a way that there have never been any GOATs before.

Eurosport’s official Twitter handle chose to retweet Mouratoglou and post his tweet with a picture of Federer and Serena. They captioned the post, “Who’s your GOAT? “

Mouratoglou retweeted this and posted his response in reply to his own tweet. He tweeted, “Serena in women’s tennis and still tbd in men’s.”

This was not greatly accepted by tennis fans stirring yet another controversy. While some have claimed that the GOAT in women’s tennis must be Margaret Court or Steffi Graf, others have trolled Mouratoglou for ignoring Djokovic as the GOAT for men’s tennis, especially after his 22nd Grand Slam at this year’s Australian Open.

Patrick Mouratoglou has a thing for controversies

In recent times, Mouratoglou has been breaking the internet with more controversies than you can think of. However, one of the most debated upon was his recent interview where he made an unlikely statement about making Serena herself again. In no time, Serena fans turned on him and bashed him for his comment.

Mouratoglou, however, did provide an explanation about how the interview is originally in French and this sentence is a result of a bad translation. By then, it was too late and fans on Instagram were not going to let him live it down.
