A video of Alycia Parks against Shuai Zhang has gone viral on Twitter. More than Parks’ brilliant service, the caption to the video has made it come to the limelight. The account that posted the video, has compared Coco Gauff to Alycia Parks. Needless to say, both Coco and Alycia fans were enraged at this.
The comment has been called racist and offensive across retweets. Neither Coco nor Parks has said anything on the matter.

Comparing Coco Gauff to Alycia Parks
This WTA 125k match was played on 7th December 2022 at the Centre Court. Alycia ultimately went on to win the match with 2-6,3-6 on the scoreboard. She just didn’t win the match, but displayed a great deal of competence and sheer excellence- especially during service. This has led @KingTailorGang on Twitter to post the video of the match and caption it, “Alycia Parks is everything they told us Coco Gauff would be”

Meanwhile, Coco fans are not going to let this go so easily. They have retweeted this post with reasons stating why Alycia shouldn’t be compared to Coco.

Meanwhile, Alycia’s fans have retorted back too. In what seems like a fair argument, fans have raised the question of why comparison is necessary while looking at Alycia’s success.
here they go like dpmo keep my sisters names out your page https://t.co/MQ0dWgRYqz

This is so unnecessary, but it doesn’t surprise me. Can’t Alycia have success without comparison to others? Coco getting done like this to hype a new player up, almost like it’s been a repeating pattern🤔
So predictable smh https://t.co/m0HPBr2Axx

Another fan has talked about how racist the comparison is. They think Alycia was compared to Coco just because they are both women of color and therefore stereotypes say they must be weighed against each other.
oh two black women playing tennis? we MUST compare them…y’all so lame but coco is thriving in the top ten and 1 in doubles and park is playing amazing. two queens https://t.co/JPygQ15Voh

Meanwhile, some fans have taken this comparison light-heartedly and expressed their concern over how Zhang was supposed to match up to Alycia’s spark on the court during the match.
Ok how’s Zhang supposed to return these serves ? 😳 https://t.co/Uezb2Ty9L0

Thus, social media users took over with their opinions.
Coco versus Alycia

While Coco is definitely a higher-ranked player, Alycia does not have any fewer accolades to her name. Coco has a career-high ranking of no.4 in singles and Alycia has a career-high ranking of no. 117. The two have never played against each other and Alycia was only a few points shy of facing Coco in the Berlin Open 2022. Both Coco and Parks honor Serena and Venus Williams as their tennis idols.
Remarkably, while Coco defeated Venus at the 2019 Wimbledon and Australian Open 2020, Parks holds the record alongside Venus for the fastest serve by a woman. She tied with Venus to make this record at the US Open 2021.

Alycia has performed with great form on court during the 2022 season. She has gone on to win both doubles and singles matches at the Ostrava Open, WTA 125 Andorra, WTA 125 Midland, ITF Rome and several others. With the 2023 season coming closer every day, we can expect a new career-high ranking for both Parks and Gauff.
