‘A Pleasure That She Chose Me’ – Ons Jabeur Opens Up About Her Epic Pair-Up With Serena Williams

Ons Jabeur, the Tunisian tennis professional, is the flag bearer of Arab and African countries in tennis. As she currently holds the ranking of World No.3 and is the first Arab and African female player to win a WTA master 100 trophy. Further, she is playing her best tennis this season. Jabeur is the reigning champion of the Madrid Open and the runner-up of the Italian Open.
Currently, she is investing her efforts in honing her skills for the upcoming Grand Slam. Earlier, Jabeur participated in the Berlin-based championship of grass and will take part in doubles of Eastbourne International next. Though the doubles seem to have much more value than just being a warm tournament for the Tunisian. As she will play alongside the 23 times Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.

Ons Jabeur is overwhelmed with joy
Jabeur, after winning her first grass-based tournament of this year, shared her thoughts about playing with the legendary player. She said, “It was great. You would say yes right away, of course. It’s a pleasure that she chose me. And It’s unbelievable.”
Thereafter she added, “It’s great, I cannot wait to see her (Serena), and I cannot wait to speak with her, it’s such an honor and pleasure. Honestly, I’m nervous but I’m going to try to focus on playing tennis and maybe not admiring Serena a lot because I’m such a big fun and it’s honestly a huge honor for me to share the court with her and to kind of be part of her comeback journey.”

On Sunday Jabeur took down the Swedish tennis professional Belinda Bencic at Steffi Graf Stadion who, after losing the first set, 6-3 walked out of the court because of an ankle injury. Further, she will lock horns with the American tennis ace Shelby Rogers in the singles first round of Eastbourne International.
Who are Jabeur and Williams’ first opponents?
The Williams-Jabeur duo will meet the team of the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo and the 23-year-old Czech professional Marie Bouzkova in the first round of the event. Whereas both Tormo and Bouzkova have won three doubles titles up till now. And Bouzkova was the quarterfinalist in doubles category of last year’s Wimbledon Championship.
