Born in the Polish village of Raszyn in Warsaw, the 19-year-old Iga Swiatek is the daughter of Olympic rower Tomasz Swiatek. Tomasz represented his country in the men’s quadruple sculls event in the Seoul Summer Olympics of 1988, wherein they took a respectable seventh place. Iga also has a sister named Agata Swiatek, who is three years older than her and is a dentistry student.
Due to her win at the Roland Garros, Iga Swiatek grew up to become the youngest female Grand Slam champion of the twenty-first country. She also became the first Polish to win a major. Furthermore, amongst the teenagers in the WTA Rankings, the 19-year-old stands above all.

Being a part of the athletic culture himself, Tomasz introduced both his daughters into the world of tennis. For the elder daughter Agata, who had just barely stepped into the Juniors circuit, tennis wasn’t the right course. However, for Iga Swiatek, swimming was the primary choice, but she opted for tennis after her sister. According to WTA, her objective to play tennis was to beat her sister in at the sport.
All that is in the past now, as the Polish player has made it to the center of the tennis world with her biggest win. With her all court aggressive style, she also resembles ‘The King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal.

But the French Open 2020 epic is not the first time she has made her father proud. In Buenos Aires 2018, also known as the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, the Polish player collectively scored a gold medal with her Slovenian partner Kaja Juvan.
Having said that, the collection does look stacked a bit more with the French Open Cup.
Iga Swiatek’s Journey From Poland to Roland-Garros
Coming from a scarcely populated village to triumphing at one of the biggest events in tennis, Iga Swiatek did not embark on the journey alone. Right from the outset, she has the support of her father and her sister.

In an interview with ausopen.com earlier this year, she said, “First year on tour I wasn’t so confident. Right now I feel that I can do it and have everything I need to play against the best players. If I keep working hard, who knows what happens?”
The world witnessed what happened it sure looks like Iga Swiatek is only beginning to show her capabilities. Before making it to the big league, the Polish player had already majored in Wimbledon in 2018 as a Junior. Also, she lifted the French Open before in the doubles with Caty McNally.
