The British monarchy has sung ‘All Hail the Queen’ for over 7 decades, but after Queen Elizabeth’s demise, King Charles is now at the helm. Hence, now it’s ‘All Hail the King.’ But not everyone in the constitutional monarchy is in favor of the king. In a recent Tweet, the 18-time Grand Slam winner, Chris Evert shared her thoughts about the British Monarchy. However, not everyone could agree with her point. Moreover, there was an overwhelming negative trend with the responses.
‘The sun never sets on the British Empire’, was an old saying. But as we observe the recent trends, the monarchy has relatively fewer supporters. As was visible with the responses, Evert got to her statement relating British Monarchy and hope.

When Chris Evert received an increasing trend of negative responses,
The Veteran tennis legend, recently took to Twitter, in response to a question relating to the British Monarchy. Evert said, “I’ve asked many of my British friends and the reply is always the same, “they lift us up and give us hope” “
However, not everyone agreed with the 18-time Grand Slam champion. More so, the Ice Maiden received ‘icy’ responses from the Twitter.
One of the users was embarrassed by Monarchy, and said, “They are intriguing historically, but mostly an embarrassment of late. But Americans also love a good scandal!” Quite contrary to Chris Evert.

I'm British, and I think they are a national embarrassment.

While some appeared to be a bit hostile of Monarchy,“I’m British and live in Britain. It’s a very loud and increasing minority who actually think that. I suspect it wasn’t recently you were told those things. Almost everyone I know thinks they shame and embarrass us.”

Some non-Brit users couldn’t relate to the uplifting concept of British Monarchy and said,” Everything about monarchy & the concept of “bloodlines” that have some sort of claim simply by birth is IMO archaic. What’s uplifting about it beats me. It’s more like reality TV to me. It’s amusing, but nothing more. But, hey, I am not a Brit, so what do I know.”

Some were in absolute disregard of Monachy present, even in the 21st century, and said, “As a Brit, I couldn’t disagree more. I totally despair that in 2022 we still have a monarchy with obscene wealth who treat people poorly and think they are above the law.”

Some were thankful
Some were thankful to Almighty for Monarchy rising over politics and not causing the same mayhem as the history portrayed them to be.
You only have to look back just over 100 years to find a number of fringe royals causing mayhem. Probably through jealousy at not being on the throne or directly in line. They are however above politics and, thank god, not elected

However, there were few supporters too, who considered Queen with high regard and said, “I’m British and in troubled times or times when a nation/ family needs each other, The Queen was a constant, a comfort, reassuring. Always there”

Yes, and they oversee a lot of charities, visit throughout the commonwealth recognizing problems to address, and there’s the history. It would be difficult to abandon the charismatic tradition of a Royal Family. Perhaps their role will be slimmed down but I doubt abandoned.

And there were neutral grounds too, in this debate of monarchy.
I’m 66 and I’ve been fascinated with the royals for ever. This is something they were born into not asked for. Anyone who can do it I commend. And I’m American and proud of it!! Interesting to see how their country loves them.

Chris Evert surely got a plethora of negative responses, leading to a mixed output. However, British Monarchy has been one of the symbols of The United Kingdom. Hence, an essential part of the nation.
It may be hope to a few but hope nonetheless.
