Now, the former World No. 1 recently underwent an operation for a lump that was diagnosed in May this year. Upon further investigation, doctors discovered it to be a branchial cyst. While the doctors initially suggested that the lump needs no removal, with time, it grew at an alarming rate – increasing the risk of an infection. With those concerns now settled and Williams back on her feet, healthy and recovered, she decided to rejoin her daughter for a fun recital.

Taking to her official TikTok handle, the 23-time Grand Slam champion shared how she volunteered to be her daughter Olympia’s partner-in-crime in her dancing classes. She said, “Olympia has a recital so they asked for volunteers. Obviously, I wanna volunteer. So I am now in dance class and I have to go to my dance routine and get ready for the stage. Actually, I did it last year so I kinda remember the routine like I’m that mom that’s gonna be there every year. Annoying mom in your face, living her dreams of being a dancer – that’s me.”

She captioned her video, “I need a life- I volunteered for Olympia’s dance class… and now I am going to be in her dance show. She has to be tired of me lol.”

Interesting Fact: Even as an active tennis player, Serena Williams would dance to keep herself healthy. “It’s a fun way to get a workout in instead of going to the gym and jumping on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I really enjoy that,” she said in 2016.

For the uninitiated, the former World No. 1 relishes spending heart-melting moments with her daughters Olympia and Adira. So much so that the American sensation believes she spends more time as a mother than a tennis player. That feels natural as Serena used to be occupied with the tour’s year-long hectic calendar only a few years ago.

When Serena Williams highlighted ‘all day’ commitments as a mother to two daughters!

American superstar or better yet, a ‘Supermom’ in recent years has changed her life drastically. While she caters to her children’s needs and frequently airs exciting moments with them, the 43-year-old also manages several ventures. This extreme change in her life’s dynamic prompted her to address the schedule that she now adheres to.

In an interview with ‘TODAY’s’ Hoda & Jenna in July, the American star revealed that she feels more occupied as a mother than she was as a tennis player during her active years on the tour. She drew the curtain on her illustrious career at the US Open in 2022. “As a mom, I’m actually way more active than what I was during tennis. Obviously, tennis, I was playing Wimbledon and stuff. But, as a mom, I’m gone all day,” Serena said.

After marking her appearance at the Flushing Meadows as a spectator this year, Serena has almost been a no-show at tour-level events elsewhere.
