The Australian Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, has come under fire for the past few months for keeping quiet about the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Some fans believe that athletes like her have enough influence to set the right narrative over the current political climate. However, instead of arguing over what others may think of her opinion or silence, she prefers to keep a certain distance rather than cause mayhem.

It’s incredibly difficult to be an athlete who only focuses on giving her all on the tennis court regardless of what’s happening in the outside world. And the current scenario makes it difficult for the 24-year-old tennis star to express herself freely. The Belarusian tennis player has already spoken candidly about how the ongoing conflict scenario has made her a target of hatred regardless of her outstanding performances on the tennis court.

She said, “If Ukrainians will hate me more after his speech, then like what can I do? If they feel better by hating me, I’m happy to help them with that. They can do that. A few days before, on the occasion of Media Day, the world number two tennis player talked in a press conference about the tension between the Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarus players. However, she went into depth about how she was truly dealing with the atmosphere in the locker room and how, for no apparent reason, she was receiving criticism for something she had not done.

The Australian Open champion admitted that it was quite difficult for her since she had never experienced such intense animosity in the locker room. She also noted that while there are many haters on Instagram when you are losing a game, dealing with hatred in the locker room is a completely different challenge.
