It has been long since Eugenie Bouchard enjoyed any luck on the tennis court. After failing to qualify for the Australian Open 2020, she missed out on the year’s first grand slam event after losing her second qualifier game against Yue Yuan.
Her downward spiral is a cause of worry amongst her loyal fans, the Genie Army, and the Tennis promoters who wish to see her performing well.
Now, after playing a minimal amount of professional tennis this past year, Genie is ready to roll with a tournament that did not take place last year.

The WTA tournament in Guadalajara will also see active participation from American Sloane Stephens, Czech Marie Bouzkova, and Argentine Nadia Podoroska.
The event was canceled because of the pandemic in 2020 and saw its last champion in Russian Veronika Kudermetova (2019). The WTA 250K series level Abierto Zapopan tennis event will run from March 8-13th to find its second champion.

The odds are against Eugenie Bouchard if her past year’s performance is taken into consideration. Even in 2019, the tennis sensation lost each of the French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open in the first round.
Her Prague Open 2020 loss to Elise Mertens and the French Open 2020 loss to Iga Swiatek suggests that she may have lost her edge against the bigger players. Her #141 WTA ranking will not help her case because she is sure to find better seeds in early rounds.
The 5’10” player who saw her peek at least 6 years ago is strong at her serve but not at par with her defense. Also, making a comeback after giving away the first set has always proved tough for her.
