The ban on Russian and Belarusian players from the previous season’s Wimbledon drew a lot of mixed reactions from the entire tennis community. It was announced amidst the Ukraine-Russia conflict and it created a lot of stir in the tennis realm. However, it was met with sharp criticism from the president of the Russian tennis federation, Shamil Tarpishchev. He was not impressed with her as she expressed her opinion on the ban. Tarpischev tried to neglect Svitolina’s reactions on the matter as he said that she is “Absolutely nobody.”
