Coco Gauff has a knack for leaving her fans spellbound—whether it’s her jaw-dropping performances on the court or her inspiring ventures off it. And this time, the 19-year-old phenom is back in the spotlight for something entirely unexpected. Fresh off her dominant season-ending victory at the WTA Finals, where she claimed the prestigious crown, Gauff has embraced the off-season with her trademark energy and enthusiasm. But don’t think she’s kicking back and relaxing. Nope, Coco is diving headfirst into something completely new.
The American tennis sensation witnessed a rocky season. In the initial half, she managed to win only the ASB Classic title and struggled to dominate the courts. However, she ensured to leave her mark before wrapping up the year and emerged victorious in the China Open and then the WTA Finals, proving why she is a formidable face in the circuit. Now, as she enjoys a much-deserved break, Gauff seems to be trying her hands on new things and interestingly, fencing is one of them.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the 20-year-old shared a video of herself in a black attire as she was fencing. Gauff wrote under the post, “Another side quest 😩 #crosstraining,” highlighting how she is using the off-season to engage in different activities that can help her in her professional endeavors as well. But interestingly, this is not the only side quest that Gauff is opening up about.

Remember, Gauff did the cameo in the 14th episode of the series’ second season. In the story, Gauff revealed how nervous she was for her role and highlighted her experience. “Me doing random side quests 🤣😭 shoutout to all the actors out there I was so nervous for this lol,” she wrote as the caption. “I forgot that I did this lol😭 @cwallamericanhc,” the star player cheekily added.
However, amidst the side quests, Gauff seems to be equally focused on her professional ventures too. And it is for this reason that many in the tennis community are anticipating her to shine brightly in the next season, and leading the fray of her admirers is none other than Andy Roddick.

Coco Gauff has often proved her resilience dazzling the courts with her grit and determination. And while her season might not have met all the expectations, the admiration for her is immense. Andy Roddick, meanwhile, is joining the fray of people expecting some serious display of talent from the young American player and is hopeful of her dominance in the next season.
Roddick expressed his support for Gauff saying, “She’s going to sleep a lot better this off-season, and her steps are going to be a little bit lighter when she goes into problem-solving. There’s not as much scar tissue from 2024, she’s almost deleted all of it, and I think she’s prepped for a massive year next year.” However, Coco Gauff herself seems to be clear about her goals and does not wish to set unrealistic targets for herself.

“I’ve never been a person who thinks about the ranking. I only want the Slams, but yes, I know I have this possibility. But honestly, I don’t think about the number 1 of the WTA ranking,” said the star player. Now, what remains interesting to be seen is whether Coco Gauff will engage in more such quests to improve her skills, and how these will eventually help her on the courts.
