‘Compton Comet’ – Rick Macci’s Incredible Post About Venus Williams on Her 42nd Birthday

Legendary American tennis player Venus Williams recently celebrated her birthday, as she turned 42 years old. Many fans and players took to social media and wished her on this joyous occasion. 

Her childhood coach, Rick Macci, also wished her recently. Interestingly, he used some unique words to describe the 7-time Grand Slam champion.

Rick Macci wishes Venus Williams on her birthday

Earlier, the Hall of Famer coach Macci wrote to Twitter, “Happy birthday VENUS aka VW. AKA COMPTON COMET aka The older pea in the number 1 sisters pod ever.”

Macci has been a great influence on Venus, alongside her father, Richard Williams. According to the Oscar-nominated movie, King Richard, Macci played an important role to make Venus no.1 in the world. Not only Venus, but he also trained Serena to become one of the greatest in the game. Moreover, he was always there for the two young girls from Compton, while their father was not always around.

Now, the birthday wish will definitely please the 5-time Wimbledon champion, as she will miss this year’s Wimbledon. 

Venus will miss the Wimbledon Championships this year

Earlier, Venus gave sad news to her fans, as she’s still not fully fit to compete at Wimbledon. After Serena’s announcement, many fans wanted to know the Status of the 7-time Grand Slam winner.

As part of a recent Question and Answer session on Instagram, a fan asked Venus whether she would be playing at Wimbledon. In reply, the American tennis player said, “Well, so no, I’m not playing. I Will be watching Serena.”

Despite missing out on the Wimbledon, she feels really excited about her sister, Serena’s comeback on the tour. Recently, she talked about keeping Serena’s comeback a secret for a very long time, as she is glad the secret is finally out.

In her earlier remarks, Venus mentioned how much she enjoys Wimbledon. Now, she has to miss it because of her injury. Notably, the American played her last match in Chicago in August last year. Safe to say, age is not on her side at the moment as she is getting closer to her retirement. Only time will tell how long she will continue to play.
