‘Could Have Just Seized Up and Gone Into Spasm’ – Emma Raducanu Raises Concern Over Wimbledon Appearance After Unexpected Injury Blow

Emma Raducanu, the British tennis professional, is one of the most prominent players of the coming generation. It has been only four years since her debut and a Grand Slam is already marked under her name. Further, she has also achieved a career-high ranking of World No.11.

However, Raducanu is going through a rough patch in the current season beacuse of multiple injuries. Recently, the Brit participated in the Nottingham Open, to oil her skills for the upcoming Grand Slam. However, an injury spoiled her plans yet again.

Emma Raducanu about her injury

After walking out of the very first round of the grass-based ATP 250 event, Raducanu spoke about her injury. While addressing the press, she said, “I think I pulled something. I am not really sure what exactly happened and I have just come off court, an absolute freak injury. I don’t know what I could have done more about it. That is it.”

Further, she added, “I need to get a scan first. I am not going to ‘Google doctor’ myself. I will get it checked out, then we will see from there.”

Thereafter, the Brit spoke about her presence in the coming major event. And said, “I have no idea. It could have just seized up and gone into spasm and then it is really bad for a few days. I cannot diagnose myself. And I will get it checked out.”

Raducanu suffered an injury to her rib in the first 10 minutes of the game. Although she resumed the game after a medical treatment, her movement was hampered. Therefore, after struggling for another 25 minutes the British No.1 stepped out of the court.

The 2021 US Open champion is full of potential, but her injury record will be a concern. She started the year riding high on energy. However, she suffered an injury to her wrist at the very first major tournament of this year, the Australian Open.

Thereafter, at the Guadalajara Open, Raducanu suffered a gruesome hip injury in the round of 32. Following that, she faced problems with her back in the Indian wells, and later incurred a lower back injury in the clay courts of Italy.
