After the Miami Open, Danielle Collins is ready to spread her tennis magic at the Charleston Open. As she is playing her last tennis tour before retiring, she is receiving love from all around the tennis realm. Recently, she expressed her eight about being in Charleston and how the tournament has done a lot for the WTA to move forward.

After becoming one of the few unseeded tennis players to win the Miami Open, she has now made it through the first round of the tournament while getting ready to face Ons Jabeur in the second one. Let’s take a look at what the American has to say about getting an opportunity to play at Charleston before retiring.

Recently, after winning the first round against Paula Badosa, the 30-year-old American tennis player, in an on-court interview, opened up about the love she has received from the tournament and even from the crowd that always stands as a cheerleader for her and other athletes, in such a way that nobody wants to miss the event. She stated, “I mean yeah coming out here and having such great support for all of the athletes this is all of our favorite event.

“We always look coming forward here, and I wasn’t going to miss this tournament in my last season. This is a really special place and everything that this tournament is doing for women’s tennis is really special and the support that we have from the community here,” she added. Along with that, she also highlighted how the 2024 event is going to be a lot more special as this is her last year on the tour, and also found a moment to especially thank the tournament.

Moreover, she clearly explained that the support the tournament has given to the WTA and women’s tennis has led to the evolution of women’s tennis. Nevertheless, in the same conversation, while talking about how she is going to face the defending champion and World No. 2 ranked tennis player, Jabeur, on the court, she also recalled a sweet memory from the time when she celebrated the new year with the Tunisian tennis player and her husband.

While talking about getting ready to face the world-ranked 2nd tennis player at Charleston, she also offered a snippet of a sweet memory. She stated, “Ons & I have had great memories on and off court. Took in the new year with her and her husband last year, so that was pretty fun.” 

Subsequently, the 30-year-old also dwelled on how everyone at the tournament literally loves the former Wimbledon finalist, as she has an enormous fan base there. Along with that, while talking about her competition, she confidently highlighted that because of the way they have played in the past, she is quite familiar with her game and needs to get herself ready to play against her.
