Danielle Collins and Iga Swiatek‘s feud from the Paris Olympics wasn’t just a one-off. The duo locked horns in the quarterfinal of the quadrennial event. When the American star faced physical troubles, she conceded the contest and, issued a condemning statement against the former World No. 1. Months later, following their second encounter, ‘Danimal’ has advanced to bury the hatchet and start afresh in the 2025 season.
The pair’s alleged feud recently resurfaced at the United Cup 2025. After retiring mid-match in the third set during their Olympics showcase in Paris, Collins gave the Polish sensation a piece of her mind and branded her “insincere.” Swiatek, just like fans, received more clarification on the incident during Collins’ post-match presser. She outlined that the Pole did not respect her abdominal injury. However, Collins later stated that the incident was “overblown” when quizzed about the incident at another event.
Fast forward to the 2025 season, the duo advanced to the finals of the annual group event representing their respective nations in Sydney. When all team members shook hands with each other before the summit clash, Collins did the bare minimum and moved on in a hurry when it was her time to greet the Polish star. Later, her antics sent social media abuzz, and just when the online chatter started gaining traction, she changed her Instagram profile picture to her Olympic reaction shaking hands with Swiatek.

She said, “I told Iga she didn’t have to be insincere about my injury. There’s a lot that happens on camera, and there are a lot of people with a ton of charisma (who) come out and are one way on camera and another way in the locker room. I don’t feel like anybody needs to be insincere. They can be the way that they are. I can accept that, I don’t need the fakeness.” However, Swiatek was taken aback by her comments and told the media she was confused with the American player’s reaction.

“I’ve never done anything unkind in her direction. I don’t know what she meant. I wanted to congratulate her on a successful career because it’s her last year on tour. We’ve never even had any interaction that would have caused that.” The duo’s rivalry stems back to 2021 when 19-year-old Swiatek ousted the former World No. 7 at the Adelaide semifinals. As they are due for their Australian Open commitments, the duo could next clash in Melbourne, promising yet another thriller for fans.
