Osaka was fined $15,000 after she didn’t fulfill her media duties at the 2021 Roland Garros. The young Japanese player was given time to regroup as she withdrew from the tour after the incident. The former No. 2 in the world decided to test her competitive spirit by returning to court four months later.

In the interview, she said, “It (Her Emotions) was building up for some time, so I guess that’s how everything happened.” She clarified that the break was very important and necessary.

The Japanese sensation also added, “as an athlete, you are told to be strong to push through everything. I think it’s better to re-group for some time and address the feelings, and then you can comeback stronger.”
Former American veteran shares encouraging words for Osaka
Since making her mental health problems public, Osaka hasn’t played as much. Patrick McEnroe hopes Naomi Osaka can find a healthy balance between her tennis career and her mental health. He believes the Japanese player still has what it takes to be among the best in the world.
