When Venus Williams didn’t get a satisfactory response from her coach:

During their conversation, the 7-time Grand Slam champion asked her coach, Hechtman, a question about them being in a compatible coaching relationship. However, she didn’t stop just there. After asking that, she stealthily put out an open-ended statement, fishing for a positive response from her coach. She asked, “Why do you think we work so well together? I’m sure you like me more than Serena, right?”

Hechtman, although didn’t answer in the affirmative, as the American tennis legend had anticipated. But he certainly avoided a collision between sisters by aiming for the middle ground. He replied, “Umm, you know those are questions. I like you both, and you both are very different.”

Hechtman detailed their similar and different traits, which have helped them in forming a seamless coaching relationship. He further added, “Similar in the sense that we are straight to the point, no beating around the bush, there is no hidden agenda in an answer; unlike some other people. And the difference I think, you know, she’s a very social person really likes the scene and what not. And I kind of like my own time”
