Legendary Williams sisters have been making the news over the past couple of weeks as they teamed up with Will Smith to participate in the promotions of King Richard. The movie, which release on the 19th of this month, portrays the journey of Venus and Serena Williams through the lens of their father, Richard.

Williams sisters played doubles practice match at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy

Now, the duo came together to play doubles during a practice game at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. The academy, run by Serena’s coach Patrick, posted a short clip of the sisters playing together against a team of boys on their Instagram stories.

Kian Yazdi, who had his high school diploma from the tennis academy and is now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from Babson College, posted the clip that was re-shared by Mouratoglou’s academy.

“Yes, we lost the point. But, let’s ask Serena and Venus who won the set”, wrote Kian while thanking the France-based academy for the opportunity.

The last time both the sisters played together in a doubles competition was at the 2019 French Open. They ended up losing the contest to Andreja Klepac and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in three sets.

Even though both the sisters will be playing for different reasons next year on the WTA tour, there is always a possibility of them pairing up to play doubles at any one of the grand slams.

Serena Williams earlier expressed desire to join Venus and Kyrgios at Wimbledon

At the Wimbledon Championships this year, Venus played mixed doubles with Nick Kyrgios. The duo reached the second round before Kyrgios pulled out of the tournament due to an abdominal injury.

Seeing their banter during the first-round matchup on-court, Serena Williams expressed the desire to participate alongside Venus and Kyrgios.

With both the sisters ending their 2021 season on disappointing note, next year gives some hope especially for Serena Williams to win her 24th major title, starting at the Australian Open.

The American did put up an impressive performance in Melbourne this year by reaching the semis, where she lost to Naomi Osaka.

Coming to Venus, the seven-time Grand Slam champion will look to win as many matches as possible just to keep her passion for the sport going before calling it a day.
