“Keep Talking Sh*t”: Amanda Anisimova Hits Back at Haters After Withdrawing From Wimbledon Championships 2021 Doubles

In a rather shocking turn of events, Russian born tennis player, Amanda Anisimova, will not be participating in the mixed-doubles at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship. The 19-year-old made the announcement through a heartfelt Instagram post, naming ill health as the cause of her withdrawal.
This news comes just two days before the tournament and has left some fans gutted while some are furious. However, with a message for her haters, Anisimova said “And haters, well y’all can keep talking sh*t and assuming things, cause what else are u gonna do lol.”

It’s been a challenging year for the youngster with yet another health scare turning into a setback.
“Unfortunately I got a stomach infection 2 days before Wimbledon and was not able to recover or take any rest, of course, because I wanted to train as much as I could before the match. I have felt very unwell these last couple of days, and won’t be able to play doubles,” Anisimova said.

Currently living and playing her tennis in America, the international star burst out onto the scene in 2019, becoming the youngest semi-finalist at the Roland Garros in 13 years. Not long ago, Amanda was also forced to pull out of the WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi. While the reason for her withdrawal wasn’t specified early on, fans nightmares came true when Amanda confirmed that she had tested positive for COVID-19. Even though Amanda eventually recovered and returned to the court, her unfortunate series of setbacks didn’t end just then. A back injury saw the American rest out the summer hardcourt event preparations. To make it worse, disaster struck a little before the US Open, when her father, who was also her coach, passed away suddenly.

Amanda thanks her fans for their support
Throughout the year, the 19-year old has struggled both physically and mentally, making very few appearances on the court. Regardless, she remains positive of a solid return, sooner or later. In the meantime, she thanked fans for their constant support during these trying times. She said, “Thank you to my fans who have supported me regardless of my results. I appreciate you so so much”.

Eager to see her on grass, fans had to settle for disappointment once again. However, Amanda’s resilience and character throughout these challenging situations have been commendable. It is her positive demeanor and hard-working personality that helps fans stay patient, with expectations of a return only going higher.
