Emma Raducanu achieved the historical feat of lifting her maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open 2021. Without dropping a single set, she engraved her name on the US Open trophy. However, recently, she has been in the spotlight on her coaching situation. The former British No. 1, Greg Rusedski advised Raducanu to show some consistent partnerships with her team.

He also suggested that Emma build a strong partnership with her future coach. Just freshly, Raducanu took a couple of trials for the coach, which included Esteban Carril. The Brit is all set to compete at Transylvania Open starting October 25.

Former British No.1 advocates Emma Raducanu

After an emphatic victory at Flushing Meadows, Emma Raducanu decided to part ways with coach Andrew Richardson. She then hired a temporary coach for Indian Wells; however, she got knocked out in the opening round itself. Since then she has been hunting for a new coach. Johanna Konta’s former coach, Esteban Carril, came in the picture recently. Raducanu even had a couple of trials with Carril.

Former British No. 1 recently gave his point of view on Emma Raducanu’s coaching situation. He said, “Esteban did a great job with Jo Konta when she had her big breakthrough and got into the top 10 in the world. Hopefully, this works out for Emma. But she needs consistency from a team point of view to push on with all the success she has had at the US Open.”

Moreover, he added, “Emma has bucked the trend. She made the last 16 of Wimbledon and the coach got fired. She won the US Open and the coach got fired. Certainly, she needs to build up and strike a relationship with Esteban. I hope it is successful and lasts.”

Raducanu to compete at Transylvania Open

USA Today via Reuters

After an unsuccessful performance at Indian Wells, Raducanu finally announced her participation at Transylvania Open. In her opening match, she will be up against Polona Hercog of Slovenia. This will be just Raducanu’s second professional match after beating Leylah Fernandez in the finals of the US Open. This will be certainly intriguing to watch, as despite winning a Grand Slam, the Brit lacks the WTA tour experience.
