Aside from her Grand Slam victory, the 30-year-old has further amassed six WTA Tour singles titles during her competitive journey.

On top of all this, Stephens previously reached the top 3 rankings on the women’s tour after Wimbledon in 2018. However, it might not have been possible without the profound inspiration she sought from her grandfather, according to her recent endearing confession.

In an honest conversation with the WTA Tour, the former US Open champion recently talked about her grandfather, who came to America with the dream of being a doctor. While lauding his hard work and dedication, Sloane Stephens opened up about how he always diligently kept up with his family duties.

The former world No. 3 player said, “My grandpa, when he came to America, his goal, his dream was to be a doctor, and I think seeing how hard he had to work to provide the life for like my mom and my aunts and uncles, he was always very committed to that.”

During the conversation, the American tennis star also revealed how her grandfather worked as a doctor until he was 70, and he “delivered 40,000 babies” during this remarkable profession period.  Notably, Stephens asserted that his diligence and commitment to his work have always motivated her to aim high in her tennis journey.

The 30-year-old player added, “And I think seeing that hard work that he put in, he worked until he was 70 and he delivered 40,000 babies. I want to love my work as much as he loved his work, right, and I think that inspires you to do more and do better and like it was amazing.”

Apart from this, the WTA superstar also talked about the unwavering support she received from her grandparents, who often used to accompany her during the tournaments ever since she was 10.
