‘I Echo That…’– Meryl Streep’s Gracious Presence During a Serena Williams Match at US Open Floored Chris Evert

Chris Evert was the torchbearer of grace in tennis, especially during her playing days. However, the former American star could not stop herself from expressing her thoughts on the renowned actress Meryl Streep at the US Open final in 2018.

The American legend, even when she was active on the court, never lost her temper. Tennis is a sport that brings out the raw emotions, but Evert stayed composed on the court. Thus, it was surprising to see an excited Evert after Streep’s presence in the US Open final.

Chris Evert went gaga over Meryl Streep

The 18-time Grand Slam winner met Meryl Streep during the nerve-wracking finals of the US Open in 2018. The final was held between Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, which ended in favor of the Japanese star. Despite the surprising result, what caught Chris Evert’s attention and awe was something completely different.

She uploaded a picture of hers with the legendary actor and stated, “I echo that. When I think of Meryl, I think of class, grace, kindness…and I can confirm this after meeting her!” Evert voiced her admiration for Streep and watched the match together.

How are Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka gearing up for the US Open 2022?

Back in 2018, Osaka defeated tennis legend Williams in the US Open finals to clinch the title. This year, however, she has not been able to perform well on the court. Nonetheless, she is still hopeful and is gearing up for the hard court major. It will be interesting to see if the Japanese player will get her grit back on the court.

On the other hand, 23-time grand slam champion, Serena Williams, has announced her retirement. She will try to win at the US Open, where she has clinched the title six times in the past.
