In a recent revelation, an incident dating a year back reflects on the emotional gesture that Martina Navratilova did while Chris Evert was fighting her stage 1C cancer. At a moment when needed the most, Navratilova stood up and showed her endless support to her dearest friend.

Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert shared a special friendship. Navratilova’s support for Evert during her cancer treatment shows the depth of their bond. During Navratilova’s 60th birthday, Evert came ahead and gifted her a Cartier necklace which had three rings of white gold that signified their bond. In an interview, earlier, Chris Evert even joked about the fact that she felt like the guy in the friendship, offering gifts to her friend.
“I guess I’m kind of the guy in our relationship, giving her jewelry,” said Evert. However, it was only later when Navratilova got to know about stage 1C cancer of Evert, that she pulled out the necklace from the box and wore it constantly, a silent prayer for Evert’s recovery.

“I wore it all the time when I wanted her to get well,” Navratilova says. However, the need for radiation due to her own cancer diagnosis forced Navratilova to remove the cherished necklace. “I finally had to take it off when I got zapped,” she further adds.
Thus, the two share a bond that is beyond the boundaries of the sport. The love, care, and affection that the two tennis icons have for each other is just immense and it ages just like fine wine.

However, even after going through 6 rounds of chemotherapy, Chris Evert could not escape the wrath of the deadly cancer as it took a huge toll on her yet again.

In a recent turn of events, Chris Evert has come ahead and she has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer yet again. Interestingly, back in 2022, she revealed that there was a 90-95% probability that her cancer would not return, and by the start of this year, she revealed that is cancer-free now. However, the recent reports that have emerged suggest that she will have to undergo treatment yet again.

This will also force her to withdraw from the upcoming Australian Open, where she brings matches to life with her unique play with words as she takes the role of a commentator. Thus, recent reports have suggested that Evert will undergo treatment yet again. Moreover, she will be looking for the support of her dearest friend, Martina Navratilova yet again. The two share a great bond that has nourished over the years.
