Bianca Andreescu has been out of the professional circuit since the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. However, during her time off-court, the player seems to be exploring new walks of life. The Canadian sensation yesterday announced that she will be one of the judges in an upcoming talent show.

Following her third-round loss against Anett Kontaveit in Indian Wells last Fall, Andresscu has been out of action since then. The 21-year-old took to her social media to give out a statement in the first week of December last year. Her statement certainly raised a few eyebrows in disbelief.

As per the tweet given out by Bianca, she had been struggling with mental and physical issues for the past two years. She also went on to announce her withdrawal from the 2022 Australian Open. Nonetheless, there might be a ray of hope as the young Canadian is scheduled to feature in Stuttgart on clay as a wildcard entrant.

Even though Bianca has been out of the tour for a long time, that isn’t the case in her life off-court. Yesterday, 10th April, Bianca took to her social media handle, putting up a post. In the post, she announced her participation as a judge in a talent show. She made the announcement via a video message.

Andreescu’s career so far

Turning pro in 2017, Bianca had a breakthrough season in 2019. She began the year on a high note at the ASB Classic in Auckland. Entering the tournament as a qualifier, she went on to beat the then World No. 3, Caroline Wozniacki in the second round. In the same tournament, she also beat the former World No. 1 Venus Williams in the quarterfinals. During the same year, she went on to win the Indian Wells Masters, her maiden Masters 1000 title, and the Rogers Cup. However, despite all these victories, the 21-year-old rose to fame when she won the 2019 US Open. In the finals, she beat the 6-time champion, Serena Williams, in straight sets.

Despite a great start to her career, Andreescu hasn’t been able to maintain the same consistency on the tour that she demonstrated in 2019. In September 2020, when the tour resumed after a pandemic break, the young Canadian announced her time-off from the court to prioritize her health.

However, after making a comeback in 2021, the Canadian saw a massive decline in her performance throughout the year, before finally ending her season at the Indian Wells Masters in 2021.

With Andreescu set to return at the Stuttgart Open that gets underway next week, it remains to be seen how the 2019 US Open champion once again copes up with the grind of the tour.
