While Serena has gone on to win 23 Grand Slam singles titles, her elder sister Venus has seven major titles to her credit. Apart from their success in singles, the two teamed up to play women’s doubles. In this event, they won an incredible 14 Grand Slam titles. Recently, their mother, Oracene Price, opened up about watching them play.

During an interview, the Williams sisters’ mother, Oracene Price, was asked what went through her mind while watching Serena and Venus play. She said, “While I’m watching their techniques mostly but before it again on the court, I’m watching their mental here (pointing at the brain).”

The Williams sisters’ parents worked hard to ensure their daughters got adequate training in tennis during their teenage days. Serena and Venus’ father, Richard Williams, took them to the public tennis courts to train them. He became the first coach of the two sisters. Later, Rick Macci joined them as their first professional coach, and together, they formed a strong bond that bore fruits on the tennis court.

Oracene reveals the nature of Serena and Venus during their childhood

Talking about the dynamics of the Williams sisters while growing up, their mother said, “Well, Serena, believe it or not, was quiet and Venus was more boisterous and talkative, actually. And I used to see that getting changed when they got older. Serena did everything that Venus did.”
