‘It Goes Back to My Religion’ – Serena Williams Once Cleverly Side-Stepped a Question About Voting for The Former US President Donald Trump

Serena Williams, the America’s top tennis player, has a big list of her achievements and the 40-year-old is quite popular among the masses. People not only follow her game but also are curious about her various interests. Like what she likes to eat, her favorite holiday destination, etc. Similarly, a few are curious about which political party she supports.

Back in 2016, when Serena was on track to defend her French Open title, she answered a question regarding the presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Serena Williams does not vote

After winning her fourth-round match in the Roland Garros 2016, the reporters asked Serena about Donald Trump. Replying to this, she said“not involved at all” (In politics)

Further, Williams, a Jehovah’s Witness, adds, “I don’t vote. It goes back to my religion.”

Serena had a brilliant run in the French Open that year. She made it to the finals but lost to Garbine Muguruza in the title clash.

Serena Williams is one of the most accomplished tennis players. She has 23 Major titles to her name. Looking at it in detail, the 40-year-old has tasted most of her success on the hard court. She has won 7 Australian Open titles and six US Open titles.  The former world number 1 has also done great on grass. She has 7 Wimbledon Championships titles to her name. While she triumphed thrice in the Roland Garros.

The 40-year-old has not won any major title in the last five years. After almost a year-long hiatus, she returned to the action and competed in the Wimbledon Championship of 2022. However, she ended up losing in the first round of the tournament.
