World No.9 Garbine Muguruza emerged as the champion of the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic 2021. The Spaniard made an incredible comeback against Ons Jabeur after losing the first set, and defeated her opponent in three sets. The final scoreline of the match was 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
Interestingly, it is the second title for Garbine Muguruza in 2021. After her win at the WTA Chicago 2021, she has massively improved her chances of qualifying at the WTA Finals 2021.

Garbine Muguruza is sixth on the list of players who have earned the most WTA points this year
Muguruza has played four semi-finals, three finals, and won two titles in 2021 so far. As a result, she has earned 3,141 WTA points in the season and is sixth on the list. However, she still hasn’t qualified for the WTA Finals 2021.
Interestingly, Iga Świątek, who ended as the semi-finalist at the WTA Ostrava Open 2021, is just 35 points behind her. The Pole currently has 3,106 points and is No.7 on the list.

WTA Chicago 2021 runner-up, Ons Jabeur, and Elise Mertens are really close to her with 2,685 and 2,438 points respectively. Thus, both of them, especially Jabeur can soon overtake her in the race as she is less than 100 points behind her.
