This talented rapper joined Nightcap podcast hosts Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco Johnson in a recent episode where the hosts talked about the Cincinnati Bengals winning their 5th season after overpowering the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase performed impressively to beat Cowboys’ stars Cooper Rush and CeeDee Lamb. Cordae, who is a basketball fan discussed his new album The Crossroads with Unc and Ocho, and highlighted that he always aspired to be a musician but for a quirky reason!

“I am from you know they call it basketball county. You know we got K.D, Markelle Fultz, Micheal Beasly, Delonte West and even the Wizards you know like loved the John Wall Bradley, Bill Era but so many dope, it killed my basketball dreams real early first and foremost. Can you hooping against dawgs every night?  Ain’t gonna lie I had a pup in me man and so it allowed me to really focus on making music full-time at an early age cause I knew I didn’t have a chance with hoops man,” said Cordea when asked if his native places teams have ever inspired him to be competitive. While Cordea remained humble throughout his response, it also highlighted his admiration for the sport and teams that have produced legendary athletes.

Cordae might feel he is not up to the mark for hoops but he has proven that his musical talent is exceptional. Naomi Osaka’s boyfriend is already a Grammy-nominated musician. In 2019, Cordae received two Grammy nominations for his debut solo album The Lost Boy. He was nominated for the Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song categories for Bad Idea. Despite such huge recognition, music wasn’t the thing that brought him closer to Naomi Osaka. In fact, it was their mutual love for basketball that led them to cross paths and eventually become a celebrated couple in the United States.

According to the Elle media publication, Cordae did not know the tennis world before meeting Osaka. In an interview with Hot 97 radio, the rapper revealed he met the Japanese WTA star at a Los Angeles Clippers game in 2019 but had hardly any clue about her professional success. In their first meeting, Cordae told Osaka that he wasn’t a tennis fan and only knew the iconic Serena Williams. These two were first linked as a couple by TMZ Sports in 2019 April while mentioning that they weren’t official by that time. However, Osaka shared a video with the rapper and captioned it, “Can’t take this guy anywhereeeee lol.” Her caption attracted the limelight and after two months they appeared at a Clippers game again but this time officially as a couple. Now, they have a beautiful daughter, Shai.

Cordae might not have known about tennis at the beginning but he is present for Osaka’s – matches gaining more exposure to the sport. This gesture tells how deeply he supports his partner’s dreams.
