American tennis legend Serena Williams is all set to return to Wimbledon this year. The 40-year-old will make her comeback at Eastbourne this week, partnering with a new doubles pairing. Williams will partner Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur, making her only the sixth tennis player to play women’s doubles alongside Serena.

Jabeur has had a sensational rise in the last few months, becoming the first Arab woman to enter the Top 10 in the WTA rankings. She currently stands at World No.4 ahead of SW19.

Ons Jabeur talks about teaming up with Serena

The Tunisian will join an elite list of players to pair up with the 23-time Grand Slam winner on grass. The only other player to do so was her sister Venus. In an interview with Racquet, Jabeur talks about her expectations from the matchup said, “ I will become a stuntman.”

“I’m going to try to be 100% on the court: serve like Andy Roddick and volley like the Bryans,” she added. The former American stars have also teamed up with Serena in the past. However, Jabeur will get a chance as a wildcard to team up with the 7-time Wimbledon singles champion.

Serena Williams’s Invincible Record With Sister Venus That’s Impossible to Beat

Williams to enter Wimbledon as wildcard

The former World No.1 will make a return to the All England Club after suffering an injury in the opening round of the same tournament last year. Since then, she has worked on her return despite falling down drastically in the WTA rankings.

Williams will now feature in Eastbourne, before making her way to London as a wildcard entry into the singles draw. She will join the list alongside Katie Boulter, Jodie Burrage, Sohay Kartal, Yuriko Miyazaki, and Katie Swan.

Serena has come awfully close to winning her 24th Major and equal the all-time record set by Margaret Court. Her last Grand Slam victory came in 2017, when she won the Australian Open. A year earlier, she beat Angelique Kerber in the Wimbledon final to claim her 7th Championship in England.
