‘Please Make This Nap Good’- New Mom Maria Sharapova Reveals Rapid Change in Her Diet After Pregnancy

Maria Sharapova, the five times Grand Slam champion, is currently in the new mother phase. Her life is currently circling around taking care of her newborn. Like every other mother, she initially had to figure out different things. But now she has developed an understanding and has created a system. 

However, her routine has changed drastically. Her day went from spending hours on the court practicing and competing to running around fulfilling her child’s and her recovering body’s need. Here’s what she has to say about the same.

Maria Sharapova about how motherhood has changed her routine

Recently Sharapova sat down for an interview and detailed the changes her son has brought to her routine. She at first said. “My routine is mostly praying, ‘Please make this nap good, so I can have a really good morning!’ But he’s actually a pretty good sleeper.”

Thereafter, she added. “Since I’m breastfeeding, I’m always hungry. I think everyone handles their body different post-birth. I feel like I constantly have to make milk. So I need food! It’s a strange balance and I’m still figuring it out.”

“I’ve tried to make it a habit of having a really good morning breakfast. I’ll make steel-cut oatmeal, I’ll cut up some fruit, add some flax seeds and chia, and a little bit of honey. That’s pretty much the start of my day.” The former World no.1 explained. Sharapova welcomed her baby boy Theodore in July this year.

Sharapova, after making her relationship with the British businessmen Alexander Gilkes public in the year 2018, announced her engagement in 2020.

Gilkes was earlier married to Meghan Markle’s close friend, Misha Nonoo. Speaking of Sharapova, prior to the Brit, she dated Bulgarian tennis professional Grigor Dimitrov from the year 2013 to 2015. They walked out of the relationship after Sharapova’s heartbreaking Wimbledon defeat against Serena Williams.

Sharapova traveled to the USA at the young age of six, alongside her father, and dealt with several things before eventually making it big in tennis. The Russian tennis ace debuted in the year 2001 and in the span of four years started dominating the sport. She became one of the few players who challenged the 23 times Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.

Sharapova claimed her very first Grand Slam title by outclassing the two times defending champion Williams in the finals of Wimbledon. Thereafter, in the following year, she achieved the career highest ranking of World no.1.

The 35-year-old held the crown for a total of 21 weeks. Further, she piled 36 singles and 3 doubles trophies under her name before hanging her racket. Also, she brought her nation a silver medal from the 2012 London Olympics and helped the Russian team in securing the Fed Cup of 2008.
