When talking about Iga Swiatek, everyone remembers a personality that has caused havoc at the tennis courts. But, what about the other side of the current world number 1, something that is unknown to many? Besides being a dominating tennis player, the Polish sensation has a knack for reading books as well. Taking to her Instagram recently, she shared a new accomplishment where she read her 11th book of the year.
In her stories, she revealed the real inspiration behind reading the books. She was none other than the famous actress Reese Witherspoon. Swiatek stated that it was because of her that she started to take up the challenge and upskill her reading.

At the start of the year, Swiatek took the challenge of trading books and, by the end, she completed the 11th book, “Tom Lake” by Ann Patchett. In the story that she shared on her Instagram, she revealed that it was Reese Witherspoon’s book club, and that intrigued her to start a reading challenge of her own. He also went ahead to give an insight into what’s in the book.

The book centers on conversations between a mother and daughter who share their experiences. The young athlete, known for her sensational gameplay, finds inspiration in the tales of connection and understanding within “Tom Lake.” Interestingly, days back, Iga also revealed why she took up reading. Being a professional player can be hard, as players barely get any time to manage their other chores.

Swiatek reveals why she took up reading
Iga stated that she started reading, as it made her feel less lonely. Probably that was the reason she took up this challenge. She said in an interview that she was merely 17 years old when she developed a love for reading. This helped her to get to know more about the characters that were there in the book, and she felt like they were her friends.

“Probably when I was 17. It just made me feel less lonely in the world. It was just fun mixed with spending time well and getting to know the people that you read about. It’s more like you felt like they are your friends,” Iga Swiatek said. After her inspiring book journey through the year, it remains to be seen how she carries it forward in the coming year.
