However, when we speak about her growth as a tennis player, Richard Williams has played a gigantic part. Venus’ father sacrificed his entire life honing her and Serena’s tennis skills. Though Richard has no regrets. In fact, he had his mind fixed on helping his daughter with her career before she was even born.

Richard had Venus Williams’ career all mapped out

Recently, Williams sat down for an interview and spoke about how he always wanted a daughter and planned her career beforehand. He said, “I remember wanting a girl so bad that someone said to me how you know you not gonna have a boy. I said oh no, I am having a girl, and I did have a girl.”

“My wife went to have a baby at Lynwood hospital in California, Los Angeles and we had to take her back home. And the next day I went back with her and it seemed like everyday she had to go but no baby. Well, one day I was sitting next to her screaming and yelling as loud as I could tell. “But I was excited. I was scared simply because I realized that I didn’t want Venus to have the same problems that I have had and the system there in America. But I made a promise to myself I’d never be afraid again. So yes, I planned their career long before they were born.”

Williams’ achievements up till now

Williams has made and broken several records. She debuted in the year 1994 and won her first Grand Slam in the grass courts of the Wimbledon Championship in the year 2000. Thereafter, she clinched her first US Open trophy in the same. Currently, she has five Wimbledon and two US Open titles under her name.

Although the 41-year-old is yet to claim a victory in the courts of Australia and France, she has had runs till the last rounds. Further, Williams is a successful player in singles as well as doubles as he has held the ranking of World No.1 in both the categories. And she has won 49 singles and 22 doubles titles.

In addition, the seven times Grand slam champion has represented her country in the Olympic game. And has bought four gold and silver medal back home.
