Iga Swiatek is not new to creating history in the WTA circuit. She already equaled the record of Serena Williams, Margaret Court, and Monica Seles by winning three French Open titles. The WTA No. 1 is only next to Serena to win the most matches in straight sets since 2006. The 4 times Grand Slam champion achieved this feat in 2022.

Swiatek is currently playing in her home tournament, the ‘Warsaw Open,’ and reached the semi-final of the tournament. But this is not what she made the headlines for. She bagged another major record that put her in the club of elite tennis legends.

With her recent victory against Linda Noskova, Swiatek completed 100 matches, not in her career but as the world’s no.1 female player. Only 7 players could achieve this glory since the WTA introduced the ranking system in 1975. The Pole is the 8th player on the list after Evert, Navratilova, Graf, Seles, Hingis, Henin and Serena.

The immaculate record of Swiatek was posted on Twitter by the popular statistics account, OptaAce. The tweet read, “100 – Iga Swiatek is the 8th player to reach the milestone of 100 matches as the #1 in the world since the WTA Rankings were published in 1975 after Evert, Navratilova, Graf, Seles, Hingis, Henin and Serena Williams. However, the Pole is just 22 years old, and she has all the time in the world to break the record set by the all-time G.O.A.T.s of tennis. If she continues to play at the same level, the world will witness a new dominance in tennis. Swiatek also holds magnificent records that grant her a place beside the best players of all time.

Swiatek is tied with Martina Hingis after her monstrous 37-match winning streak last year. She has her whole career ahead of her, which might allow the 22-year-old to set new records. The WTA No. 1 is next to Martina Navratilova and Steffi Graf for securing the most wins against the Top-10 players in 40 years.

The 22-year-old is close to beating Caroline Wozniacki, who spent a total of 71 weeks at the top. Graf holds the record of spending more time as WTA No. 1, broken only by Novak Djokovic recently. The German held the first position for a total of 377 weeks and consecutively for 186 weeks, a record tied by Serena. Will Swiatek break the record and emerge as the first WTA player ever to do so?
