Williams is the second-highest Grand Slam title holder (23). If she wins the US Open, the former world number 1 will tie with Margaret Court for the most number of Major titles.

Similarly, American baseball player Albert Pujols is left with the final month of his last regular season. Notably, he also is just six home runs short of reaching 700. As the two athletes close in on their retirement, a shocking coincidence happened on the day Serena won her first match at the US Open 2022.

Serena Williams won her first match at the US Open, two days ago on 29th August 2022. On the very same day, Albert Pujols hit a home run and three separate father-son duos notched hits. Notably, all three of them play for the Toronto Blue Jays. Exactly 21 years ago, on 29th August 2001, it was exactly the same result.
