Series of Withdrawals Allows Eugenie Bouchard an Amazing Opportunity to Perform at Wimbledon Championship 2022

Eugenie Bouchard has been off the court for a while owing to her shoulder surgery in 2021. She has been preparing for her comeback since the beginning of this year.
With Wimbledon banning Belarusian and Russian from this year’s event, Bouchard is the first alternate in the main draw. It may not be too long before we see the Canadian make her comeback to professional tennis.

Probable comeback of Eugenie Bouchard at Wimbledon 2022
Eugenie Bouchard had been on a hiatus for some time. However, this might come to an end soon, as she is announced as the first alternative in the main draw of Wimbledon’s list. The draw had been delayed because of the announcement of the ban on Belarusian and Russian players.

Now, if someone withdraws, Bouchard will have the chance to be back on the grass courts of Wimbledon. As the WTA and ATP have stripped Wimbledon of ranking points, some players might choose to not be a part of the prestigious tournament.

Rise of the Canadian on the WTA tour
Bouchard made a name for her country by becoming the first Canadian to reach the final in a grand slam. She reached the final of Wimbledon 2014, where Petra Kvitova clinched victory in straight sets.

In addition to being the alternate, Bouchard also has the chance to get a wild card entry. Though, nothing has been made official yet.

Earlier last month, legends of the sport like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic condemned the ban enforced by Wimbledon. As a repercussion to the ban, ATP and WTA stripped ranking points from the prestigious Grand Slam event.
