“Super Experience For Me”: Iga Swiatek Recalls The Ball Girl Service to Caroline Wozniacki, Ahead of Her Eastbourne Match

Iga Swiatek is the rising sensation from Poland, and will be a big name in the tennis world. The 20-year old is already the World No9 in WTA rankings. She has won three career titles in singles. The World No9 is talking about her childhood days, when she was the ball girl at a tournament in Warsaw.
Iga talks about her fan girl moment, as she was providing balls to Caroline Wozniacki. The Polish star will be playing in the Eastbourne International event in London, before heading for the Wimbledon Championships, beginning from the 28th of June.

Iga Swiatek and her fan girl moment
Iga was only nine years old back in 2010, when she was the ball girl during the Warsaw tournament. “I remember because I was the ball girl, when we had tournament in Warsaw. It was like in 2010, I was nine and.. I don’t remember the autograph thing, but I was like throwing the balls to Caroline Wozniacki, which was like great for me. That was a super experience for me,” said Swiatek ahead of her Eastbourne Internationl’s first game.
Iga is the number four seed at the Eastbourne International event. She is preparing for the Wimbledon Championships, and is aiming for a podium finish at the grass court event. After a successful Italian Open, and a not so successful French open, she is eager to win a title before the Grand Slam event.

Swiatek beat Karolina Pliskova in the Italian Open final, 6-0, 6-0. As a result of the demolition of the Czech player, Swiatek won her third career singles title. She bowed out in the quarterfinal round of the French Open, eventually losing out to Maria Sakkari.

Iga won the French Open title in 2020, in the women’s singles category. She has the perfect chance to top it off with a Wimbledon Championship under her belt, consequently winning the grass court event at such a young age. To follow the footsteps of her idol, Caroline Wozniacki, she needs to become the number one ranked player.

Iga’s first game in the Eastbourne event is on the 22nd of June, against Heather Watson of Great Britain. She is one of the top contenders for the title in London, before heading for the Wimbledon championships.
