Novak Djokovic fans have been locking horns with Serena Williams‘ former coach, Rennae Stubbs since she released her podcast over four days ago. Djokovic has faced massive criticism and hate as he was constantly compared to his rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The Serb faced backlash for his persona rather than his game. When he won his 24th Slam, Stubbs, in her podcast, opined that Djoker would never be as popular as Rafa and Federer, though the Serb beat his rivals through numbers.

The former WTA professional was brutally trolled for her statements. She has been defending herself, clarifying what she meant by her words, but tennis fans are not having it. The online feud is still active, and Stubbs is fighting the battle alone.

A post on X by a tennis journalist went viral, highlighting Stubb’s statements. Fans lashed out at the six-time Grand Slam champion for being pathetic, snarky, and upset. The former World No.1 quoted her statements and clarified what she meant by them, but none of it worked. Instead, a Djokovic fan hit back at Stubbs again for her harsh comments.

The word war continued as the 52-year-old refused to take the blame for misinterpreted statements. An ardent Nole fan wrote, “You should call these guys out for “twisting” your words…….” When the journalist and author wrote that she only reposted a news story, Stubbs commented, “You call yourself a “journalist” but yet you don’t actually go and listen to the entirety of the podcast and what i said in total?”

Serena Williams’ ex-coach previously explained, “Yes they may be more popular than me but I’ll always be the greatest and I’ll always have the numbers over them’ and he doesn’t care and I admire him for that.” Those are my words. Don’t twist them.” But his explanation only triggered Djoker fans.

The Australian coach added that Djokovic’s efforts are phenomenal, and she admires the Serbian’s hunger and drive, which earned him the glory. However, a slip of the tongue, an honest mistake, or probably her genuine opinion created a colossal mess that earned reactions from American legends.

Djokovic was always perceived as the villain despite his outstanding achievements. The Serb leads head-to-head against the Swiss Maestro and Spaniard. But the 36-year-old made headlines for reportedly controversial decisions, opinions, and actions that sidelined his on-court performance. So, when negativity was piling up at the Serb, Chris Evert and Jimmy Connors stepped in to take a stand for the World No.1.

Evert declared that despite what motivates and drives Djokovic, he has been the best over the years. The 18-time Grand Slam champion put her loyalty to Federer aside to deliver the ultimate Djokovic verdict. After the Hall of Famer, Jimmy Connors, too, extended his admiration of the legendary Serb.

The former ATP No.1 also stated that he was glad the Serb would play as long as he could. After winning the 24th Slam, Djokovic asserted that he has no retirement plans until the young generation defeats him consistently. Who do you think is the G.O.A.T. of tennis?
