One such way they did this is by creating a unique trademark celebration that the audience associates them with. The American tennis sensation, Coco Gauff has decided to pay homage to the iconic Williams sisters’ celebration after her landmark win.

Every up-and-coming sportsperson has an icon they looked up to in their youth. While playing style is the most common way of imitating one’s idol, like how Stefanos Tsitsipas loves to copy his hero Roger Federer‘s playing style, adopting signature celebrations is certainly another one. After winning her fifth title at the Citi Open, Gauff pulled off a Venus and Serena Williams celebration that rolled back the years and sent fans into a frenzy.

But the one celebration where they twirl the court with their arms wide and thank the crowd for their support is the one that has become stuff of tennis legend. In fact, Serena pulled it off even in her farewell tournament at last year’s US Open.

After registering a comprehensive victory over Maria Sakkari, Gauff was over the moon. It was the biggest title of her career so far and she decided to celebrate it in an iconic way. Just like the Williams sisters, Gauff too replicated ‘The Twirl‘ with her own spin on it, as she thanked the fans for their support over the two weeks.

It’s always special to see youngsters trying to emulate their idols on the court. Gauff was also giddy with joy right after the celebration as the laughter on her face suggested so. Gauff also followed up the twirl with a few dance moves which were loudly cheered by the crowd. Her dance isn’t something new to the tennis fraternity, especially the ones following her TikTok where she has amassed a mammoth following.

Well, tennis is not the only field where the 19-year-old excels at. She regularly uploads her dancing videos on TikTok and has a large following on social media. Her dance moves have been famous since 2021 after she showed her dance moves alongside Caty McNally. Even though the frequency of these uploads has reduced on social media, the fans are well aware of Gauff being a spectacular mover both on and off-court.
