Venus Williams Addresses Widely Neglected Issue in American Households Through a Laudable Football Initiative

Venus Williams, every move has a story behind it! Whether it be on the tennis court or outside of it, with any of her endorsements or sponsors. At the same time, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has a deal with Dove, in which they celebrate and motivate body confidence in girls. While at the same time allowing them to get into their sport.

Recently, the former world number one opened up about the alarming statistics highlighting the same topic. Let’s take a look at how many girls are out of the sport just because of their low self-esteem.

Venus Williams hints at alarming stats

As someone who has seen the power of this sport, Venus Williams tries her best to share the various sporting opportunities with other people who want to achieve their athletic dreams. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, she talked about the 45-yard line event that was hosted by Dove, which was quite special to her.

Along with that, she also highlighted that the specific event was all about celebrating body positivity for girls. But at the same time, according to the Dove Self-esteem Project, 45% of teenage girls around the world drop out of sports by the age of 14 just because of one reason. Just because low body confidence is the primary reason, a lot of teenage girls have to go through this.

She said, “You would never think the number would be that high, but it is. And we have to change that, and that’s why we’re here today, to shine light on that.” Further, she also stated that girls can dominate any sport as long as they participate, so taking part is quite important, for their growth in any sport.

She openly addressed the neglected issues in American households, as she recently coached a girl’s flag football game against none other than Steve Young’s team. Before the Super Bowl, when shit to part and downs, a new initiative called #KEEPHERCONFIDENT was a game of football for young female athletes, and Venus was a part of it. At the same time, she also shared her opinion on the same initiative.

Williams’ take on the girls’ self-esteem initiative 

After becoming a Dove Ambassador to help build more body confidence in sports, she highlighted her stand on the initiative. She stated, “I am excited to be working with Dove on this initiative to help nurture girls’ self-belief and confidence, foster a positive environment, and shift the conversation from appearance to capability.”

Along with that, she also motivated the young participants during the football match as she cheered up for them and hugged them. As they met 43-year-old tennis star Venus Williams, it was a big opportunity for them, and at the same time, it might help them get into their respective dream sports.
