Venus Williams has always stood by her younger sister and fellow American tennis legend, Serena Williams. And while remembering 2022, on New Year’s Eve, the elder Williams sibling took to Instagram to share the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s fond memories.
Unquestionably, the year 2022 was special for the Williams household. As the tennis GOAT, Serena Williams bid adieu to the professional tennis circuit after almost three decades of the journey.

Venus Williams shares her baby sis’ memorable 2022

Serena Williams won her last Grand Slam, against none other than her elder sibling, Venus Williams, in 2017. The 7-time Grand Slam champion has been Serena’s bestie since childhood. But that didn’t stop them from being fierce rivals on the court.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion started her tennis journey by winning the US Open, and after more than 2 decades of shattering records and creating history; Serena put down her racket after the US Open 2022.

And Venus Williams, while paying tribute to 2022, highlighted her younger siblings’ memorable journey by sharing Serena’s Insta story. The 7-time Grand Slam champion captioned it, “That be my baby sis!” 

The video gives a glimpse of Serena in different roles; from being a hands-on mother to Olympia Ohanian Jr. and featuring on the cover page of Vogue, to publishing her first children’s book and spending some quality time with her family.

Even before the retirement of the 23-time Grand Slam champion, talks of the elder sibling walking away from the professional circuit were doing the rounds. But the 7-time Grand slam champion put those to rest with a very powerful statement!

When Venus’ calmed down the retirement rumors by booking a court

During last year’s US Open, the 7-time Grand Slam champion and 14-time doubles champion suffered a crushing defeat. And that added fuel to the fire of the rumors about Venus Williams’ retirement. However, the American tennis legend booked the court the very next day.
