The 42-year-old, out from the game since August last year, yesterday entered Wimbledon in the mixed doubles draw. Pairing in with Jamie Murray, the two won their first match in a three-set thriller.

While the return of Venus has given the fans a reason to rejoice, it has also become the talk of the town. A few weeks back, the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion admitted that she wouldn’t participate at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. Questioning her return, a journalist was given a fitting reply by the American sensation.

Venus hits an ace during the press conference

Venus Williams and Jamie Murray showed impressive form as they outplayed the pair of Alicja Rosolska and Michael Venus. Following the win, the two headed towards the post-match press conference. During the press conference, a journalist questioned Venus about the reason for her playing in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. “Are you here for the experience or are you going to go all the way?” the journalist asked.

Taking a dig at the journalist, Venus questioned back saying, “Are you going to write a good article or a halfway decent one?”

Abashed by the champion’s reply, the journalist cleared his/her stance by saying, “I’m going to do what I usually do.” While the journalist assumed that the conversation might end, Venus had more left in her bag. Replying to the journalist, she ended by saying, “Us to(o)”.

Looking at the stats, Venus has won a total of 11 Wimbledon titles: 5 singles and 6 women’s doubles. Going back in time, she won her first singles and doubles Wimbledon title in 2000.
