After being out of the tour for close to a year, Serena Williams is expected to make a comeback at the upcoming 2022 Wimbledon. The grass-court Grand Slam has undoubtedly been the most successful tournament for Serena as she has won it seven times.

Keeping the stats in mind, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Serena today enjoys a major mention when talking about Wimbledon. However, the aura she enjoys today didn’t come easy. The legendary player gave it all in during her formative years to be where she is today. Recently, Serena gave a glimpse of her journey from where she began tennis – Compton.

Serena’s journey from Compton to Wimbledon

Serena Williams started playing tennis at the age of four under her father Richard Williams’ guidance. Having a natural hand for the game from the start, Serena rapidly started climbing the ladder to success. After playing for four years on the tour, Serena finally lived her dream by playing her first Wimbledon in 1998.

Improving year by year, it was finally in 2002 that she beat her sister Venus Williams in the finals to win her first title at Wimbledon. Since then, the 40-year-old has been one of the most prominent players at Wimbledon. Till date, she has won seven Wimbledon singles titles, with her last success coming in 2016.

A Wimbledon comeback for Serena Williams

Serena Williams has been out of the tour for close to a year now. She last played at the 2021 Wimbledon, where she suffered a hamstring injury during her first-round clash with Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Since then, Serena couldn’t make a comeback till now.
