The American tennis stars, Venus and Serena Williams, with their historical achievements, have always inspired the next generation of tennis athletes. Even the American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff, looks up to the Williams sisters to draw inspiration for enhancing her performances on the court. Additionally, Gauff previously got an opportunity to converse with her idols during a talk show.

The popular Hollywood superstar, Will Smith, was there with Venus and Serena during the interview. Meanwhile, Gauff asked the Williams sisters about how they dealt with naysayers and critics during their stellar tennis journey. The tennis legends along with the Hollywood actor advised Gauff on how they answered their critics.

The Academy Award winner was once featured in an interview with two of the greatest athletes – Venus and Serena Williams. During that interview, they talked about their movie, King Richard, which depicted the journey of the Williams sisters and their father, Richard Williams. Gauff asked the Williams sisters, how they balance dominating the sport and also dealing with all the naysayers and the critics. Serena answered by stating, “naysayers for me? I just don’t hear him.” She added, “Like, everyone that’s saying something neg-, successful people, or someone that’s doing something in their life, they’re not bringing you down. It’s usually someone that is either jealous or unhappy or wants to be you.”

Serena Williams Sends a Priceless Gift to a Little Girl

The 23-time singles Grand Slam champion went on to say that she is so good at blocking out her critics and naysayers. Serena added that only hears positive things by ignoring her critics. She further talked about dealing with critics, “So I look at it as a plus.  Like, okay, cool, so that means that I’m doing something if you’re unhappy. So, yeah.  It’s just the world that we live in. People can just be so mean sometimes. But at the end of the day. you go home with you, you don’t go home with, you know, these people that are being cruel.”

Will Smith also advised Gauff

The Academy Award winner, Will Smith, also joined Serena in advising Gauff on how to deal with naysayers and critics. Smith said that he also dealt with naysayers and his movie critics. Meanwhile, Serena jokingly asked him, “What movie did you make?”

The Hollywood actor talked about facing criticism for his movies as he said, “That’s my thing. It’s like with movie critics.” Smith went on to talk about his critics by saying, “You never said one line at one camera. You gonna criticize? Just, I need you to–shh. I need you to be quiet. Playa hating from the sidelines.”

Venus also joined their conversation and talked about how she dealt with naysayers. She said that she ignored her critics by considering them as background noises. The American tennis icon further stated that she rather focus on her performances on the court.
