Coco Gauff is at the top of her game, isn’t she? She started the year with a bang, winning the ASB Classic title in the lead-up to the Australian Open. Subsequently, at the Grand Slam Down Under, she had a thumping start, winning her first-round match in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia. However, she’ll have her work cut out as she goes up against her compatriot, Caroline Dolehide, next.

While Gauff is in the form of her life, Dolehide can prove to be a tricky opponent. Like Gauff, Dolehide is also active in both singles as well as doubles. Let’s find out more about her.

Caroline Dolehide is a UCLA Alumni and senior to Gauff. She made her professional debut in 2016. Dolehide regularly featured on the ITF circuit and won several titles there. Although she hasn’t won any WTA singles titles, Dolehide has won a doubles title in Monterrey. Further, last year, she reached the singles final in Guadalajara.

Owing to her consistent run in both singles as well as doubles, Dolehide is ranked inside the top 50 of the WTA rankings. She can prove to be a dangerous player. While her Grand Slam results haven’t been significant, she had a convincing start at this year’s Australian Open. Dolehide defeated qualifier, Leolia Jeanjean, in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

This motivated me to complete an Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management while pursuing my career as a sports writer.
