Serena Williams on being a ‘game changer’
During the post-match press conference after her first-round Wimbledon defeat, Serena was asked how she became a “game-changer” during her tennis career. She said, “Yeah, you just don’t be afraid to be different and don’t be afraid to stand out and yeah, I think I’ve, that’s been me and I love changing the game. I think that’s you know, something that I never kind of set out to do, and then somehow I did it, somehow I’m Serena and it’s pretty awesome.”

The former world number one gave it her all but couldn’t proceed further in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.

It was Serena’s first singles match in over a year. Despite her loss, the former world number one played well in a battle lasting more than three hours.
Serena set to become unranked
As a result of ranking points not being available at this year’s Wimbledon Championships, Serena is set to lose all her WTA singles ranking points after the tournament. Thus, she will move out of the WTA singles rankings when the table is updated post the tournament.
